What’s special about this guitar: This is a great playing 1973 Gibson Standard SG in great shape for its age! This SG plays exceptionally well and the pickups sound phenomenal! They have plenty of output and sustain yet have a very nice clarity and overall presence that gives the guitar a great character! The walnut finish looks fantastic and is very clean overall and the slender neck has a super comfortable profile with great action! This is a great vintage SG that is in great shape cosmetically, sounds incredible and had exceptional playability on top of al of that.
Condition: This guitar is in great overall shape! There are light surface scratches and some small nicks and dings throughout the instrument with a large area of buckle rash on the back. Overall, this instrument is very clean for a 1973 SG! The fingerboard and frets are in very good shape with only moderate play wear and some heavier play wear towards the lower registers. The neck is super comfortable with great action up and down the fingerboard and the truss rod functions perfectly. There is some slight discoloration on the back of the headstock but this is merely cosmetic. All electronics and parts are in perfect working condition. Three of the four pots definitely date to 1973. One dates to the seventies but the next number is covered by solder (it is likely also a 73).
Body: Solid body with nicely beveled edges in walnut finish. Gibson branded vibrato tailpiece with a high-mass Tune-O-Matic bridge. Speed control knobs, 5-ply black pickguard and a black back cover plate.
Neck: Nicely shaped slender neck with a bound Ebony fingerboard. Pearloid block inlays and a 1 9/16” nut. Sealed Gibson tuners, 24 ¾” scale length.
Pickups/Electronics: Humbuckers in the neck and bridge with dual volume and tone eontrols and a 3-way selector switch.
Neck: 5.24K Ohms.
Bridge: 7.55K Ohms.
Weight: 6lbs, 8.5oz.
Case: Includes the original hardshell case. The original hang tag/booklet is included in the case.
